Ace Adventure Expeditions - Singapore Partner of  Australian Outback Marathon

The Australian Outback Marathon is set amongst one of the world's most iconic backdrops of Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta (the Olgas). Although this race is popular with local runners, for most, it’s a once in a lifetime experience. It’s not every day marathoners get to take in the stunning views of Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) as the kilometres tick by.

Ace Adventure Expeditions is honoured to be the Singapore partner of the Australian Outback Marathon. The 11th edition race day is on 25 July 2020.

The event is designed to be enjoyed by all levels of running abilities offering four different events - a full marathon, half marathon and a 11km and 6km fun run. In addition to its beauty, the course is relatively flat, with only a couple inclines and sand dunes. Most of the course is on unsealed roads, bush tracks and soft-sand trails, with a few small sand dunes and plenty of Australia’s famed “Red Earth”.

The itineraries are designed to suit all budgets and travel plans with each package including shuttle services, first class accommodation, and guaranteed race entry. There is an exciting variety of optional tours to pick from too, to experience more of Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) and the Australian outback.

Bonus Inclusion - Complimentary Group Training Sessions with Running Coach ~ Liew Wei Yong

Voted by Run Society as one of the best 16 running coaches in Singapore, Liew Wei Yong is certified in everything from sports management to personality/behavioural assessment, she has been training runners for 15+ years while competing in killer marathons like the Elite Ultra, Gobi and Sahara Desert runs. She is also overseeing training for the Four Seasons Hotel, HP, SWEAT and NTUC running groups. This feisty trainer always finishes marathons within the top 16 and prides herself on being placed first in the Women's Endurance category at the 2015 Sports Hub Stepper Challenge.

The 3 group training sessions cover:
• Principal of Training and Gait Analysis
• Fitness Assessment plus Stength & Conditioning
• Hill training session at Bukit Timah Nature Reserve

About The Race

All the four race categories use sections of the same course, setting off in a South-Westerly direction from the start/finish area. The terrain varies throughout the course; with most on unsealed roads, bush trails and tracks. The ‘red earth’ route takes runners on a journey through Australia’s Outback with stunning views of Ayers Rock.

Like most adventure marathons around the world, the varying terrain does not measure to AIMS standards even though it has been measured and certified by an official AIMS course measurer… Just so you know!

The course can be quite “sandy” depending on the weather conditions in the previous couple of months.

Grading:

For the marathon, focus your training effort in the following primary elements of marathon training, assuming that you are in good health and injury-free:

  1. Base mileage. Build your weekly mileage over time, running three-to-five times per week.
  2. The long run. Do a long run every 7–10 days so your body can adjust gradually to long distances.
  3. Speed work. Practice intervals and tempo runs to increase your cardio capacity.
  4. Rest and recovery. Adequate rest helps prevent injuries and mental burnout.

Most marathon training plans range from 12-20 weeks. Beginning marathoners should aim to build your weekly mileage up to 50-80km over the four months leading up to race day.
